Out Of Town Teams Highlight The CMFSC Thanksgiving Tournament!
October 6, 2014
With the 7th Annual Thanksgiving Tournament taking place at Coquitlam’s Town Centre Sports Complex on October 11th to 13th, and 80 teams in the U10-U12 age groups confirmed, the event promises to bring together eager select and developmental teams for some great competition.
Three of those participating teams will travel quite some distance, and by ferry and plane to attend. The farthest away are the U12 select girls from Calgary as the South West United Gunners ‘03 are excited to participate in their first Coquitlam Thanksgiving tournament. They had the opportunity to play some of the local teams when they were in Burnaby in the spring for a training camp at Fortius Sport & Health and look forward to meeting up with these teams as well as others again. “It’s a great opportunity for the Gunners to continue to hone their skills outdoors and play new teams before their indoor season in Calgary” says Coach Dave Guerin.
Powell River’s U12 boys will be the next furthest away, and will ferry and highway-hop to enjoy a great weekend of soccer in Coquitlam. Harbour City FC’s Jazz Sohal will also be bringing his U10 boys to Coquitlam. Commenting on attending the recent SX Cup, a tournament run by E11even Management who is also managing the CMFSC Thanksgiving Tournament, Sohal said “the SX Cup tournament was first class with an abundance of atmosphere and energy. From the pitches to the organization this was indeed the best event we as a young team have attended, and we look forward to attending the Coquitlam Thanksgiving Tournament”.
As with all CMFSC tournaments, all players will receive a dri-fit type tournament t-shirt. Soccer Express, CMFSC’s Champion Sponsor, will also be on site with their retail events trailer on Saturday and Sunday.
